Two Years (4 Semesters)

Candidates who have passed the three year B.Sc. degree examination of Mangalore University or any other University considered as equivalent thereto with Statistics and Mathematics provided they have studied at least one of them as major/optional/special subjects and the

other as minor/subsidiary subjects and have secured a minimum of 45%(40% for SC/ST/Category-I candidates) marks  in Statistics and Mathematics are eligible for the programme.  If the candidates with Statistics as major/optional/subsidiary/

special subjects are not available then the graduates with Mathematics as an optional/major/special subjects may also be considered for the programme provided they have secured a minimum of 45%(40% for SC/ST/Category-I candidates) marks in Mathematics

 
Ph.D. As per University Regulation Two/Three Years and maximum five/six years for full-time and part-time research respectively. Second class Master’s degree (minimum 55%) in the subject/allied subject.  In the case of SC/ST and the Category-I candidates the minimum marks required 50%.

Facilities Available:

The department has received grants of Rs.13.5 lakhs from the UGC under Innovative Programme for a special paper on “Stochastic Finance” for five years starting from the academic year 2008-09.  The department has a well equipped Computer Laboratory, set up with financial support from the UGC.  The Computer Laboratory has 26 Desktops, printing facilities, like DMP and Laser Printer.  In order to train students to solve statistical problems software’s such as C++, SPSS, ORACLE, MATLAB, EXCEL etc. are provided.
