Management Association:
It is an association
started in 1994, comprising of the students and the alumni of the
department. The Management Association offers the students a chance to
interact with the industry and also addresses their needs with
reference to the study program while, an alumni association enables
the alumni to remain in contact with the Department and provides a
platform for the students to interact with the alumni.
Tourism club
The Tourism Club is
the motivated student’s body which intends to an opportunity to the
students to interact with the industry. It acts as platform to the
students for all round development and placement. The club provides
ample scope for student’s involvement through the extensive range of
activities. The club comprising the tourism administration students to
explore the inherent talents of the members and bridges the gap
between the students and tourism industry. This is a platform, which
brings to light the hidden talents of the students. The club provides
an ideal opportunity for individuals to broaden their horizons which
perhaps they never had the opportunity of trying before. The club, in
totality, attaches importance to overall development of student’s
personality and talents. The club creates an impact on students
wherever they are and whatever they do in their way of life.
Crossroads:
Crossroads is an
inter-collegiate management festival held every year with the aim of
bringing together the best management students on a single platform.
It provides a chance for students from various Business Schools to
interact and display their talents. Crossroads is organized and run
wholly by the students of the Department of Business Administration
right here in Mangalore University. It provides a real life practical
test of managerial and organisational skills.
World Tourism Day
and India Tourism Day
The department is
organizing World Tourism Day in the month of September every year
since 2001 with the specific theme set by UNWTO. This programme is
organized under the banner of Tourism Club. This programme is very
successful in creating awareness among the youth and general public
about the importance and impact of tourism by holding inter-collegiate
competitions, seminars, workshops and lecture series in which various
issues relating to travel; tourism and hospitality industry is
discussed. The department is also observing the India tourism day on
26th January every year.
Industrial Visits:
The industrial visits
help the students to get first hand idea about the functioning and
management of industries. Industrial visits are divided into two
stages. In the first stage the major industries in and around
Mangalore are visited while in the second stage a major outstation
business center is chosen for a period of about eight to ten days and
various industries in that particular city are visited.
Industry –
Department Interaction:
Effective interaction
with the industry helps improve the quality of education provided.
Here industrialists and executives from the industry provide insights
into the business scene to the students on a regular basis through
seminars, lectures and workshops.
Summer Training
With an intension to
give opportunity to students to interact with the industry and get
accustomed to present trend, Summer Training is arranged in reputed
travel, tourism and hospitality organizations.
Placement Cell:
The department has a
placement cell, headed by a faculty member, which looks after summer
and final placements of the MBA students. A good number of companies
visit the department for conducting campus interviews to recruit MBAs.
